Project Description

The main library building was constructed utilising insulated concrete wall formers thus reducing the thermal loading of the building with this wall then supports a ‘living wall’ housing some 12,000 species of plants to create a building that blends into its park surroundings, the first of its kind in Lincolnshire. The new building provides an excellent facility for the local community offering a large open plan library with meeting room, study support areas and an external recreational area with on-site car parking facilities. A rainwater harvesting system was introduced to provide maximum environmental efficiency in the maintenance of the living wall.
