Project Description
JemBuild’s first contract with Rainham Steel, a £1.7m 34 week scheme to construct 3no. 120m long steel gantries at the Rainham Steel distribution centre in Scunthorpe.
Formed in 1973 Rainham are the UK’s foremost independent Steel Stockholder and Distributor. The company specialises in the supply of Universal Beams, Universal Columns, Channels, Angles, Large Flats and Structural Hollow Sections to major Steel Fabricators, Stockholders, Construction Companies, Civil Engineers and Builders Merchants.
The 34 week contract involved the construction of heavily reinforced concrete foundations to facilitate the installation of 3no. 120m long galvanised steel gantries supporting 35m span overhead cranes. Works also involved the construction of a 500m long concrete service road, the construction of 5km of in-situ concrete steel support plinths, fencing works, lighting works and refurbishment of the existing rail mounted site cranes.
