Project Description

This RIBA and LABC award winning building new two storey Reception building has become ‘The new face of Franklin’.

The project also involved the remodelling of the existing Reception and Student Services areas of the college along with associated external works.

The new courtyard building is a steel frame construction clad in intricately detailed brickwork. Large areas of glazing will offer the building extensive areas of natural light with the theme continued throughout the buildings internal layout with the provision of glazed screens and an open glazed bridge linking two parts of the first floor.

The courtyard building will be linked by an architecturally designed 35m x 15m ETFE canopy providing a covered courtyard between the new reception building and the existing college campus. The canopy itself is independent of both buildings supported by a steel frame.

The remodelling works within the existing reception and student services generally comprise of demolition works involving the removal of all internal walls/doors, lighting, ceiling, fixtures and fittings and the construction of new walls (built to a new configuration), new finishes, flooring, lighting, fixtures & fittings.
